Therapy
The Oxford Stress and Trauma Centre offers assessment and treatment
of psychological reactions to trauma, including Post-Traumatic
Stress Disorder (PTSD). We offer help to people who suffer from
their experience of traumatic life events, for example:-
- Accidents, such as road traffic accidents, industrial,
domestic or medical accidents
- Sudden, traumatic losses, for example that of a child
- Disasters, such as train crashes, gas explosions,
building collapses or even environmental disasters
- Natural disasters, such as floods, hurricanes, earthquakes
or forest fires
- Acts of domestic violence, such as physical, sexual
or emotional abuse
- Acts of human violence, crime and terror
- Acts of war and political crime, such as torture
- Rape and date rape
- Childhood sexual abuse
The Oxford Stress and Trauma Centre also provides
help with a variety of stressful life-events, for example:-
- Bereavement and Loss
- Coming to terms with medical illness
- Marital difficulties and divorce
- Fertility-related distress
- Miscarriage, stillbirth or unwanted termination
- Surgical procedures
- Occupational stress
- Redundancy, dismissal or relocation
- Examination stress
Medico-legal work
We offer a specialist medico-legal assessment and treatment service
to Solicitors for use with clients suffering from trauma or stress-related
problems.
Supervision, training and consultancy
The Oxford Stress and Trauma Centre offers one-to-one as well
as group clinical supervision to other therapists and professionals.
Registered and accredited therapists in these areas can offer
supervision on CBT and EMDR practice.
We also offer training workshops in a wide range of traumatic
and stress-related areas. These workshops are suitable for therapists,
healthcare professionals, professional interest groups, healthcare
and voluntary services and business and organizational settings.

Self-help literature and education
The Oxford Stress and Trauma Centre also offers a mail-order
book service, which specializes in a wide range of self-help books
both in the trauma and stress field, as well as in other related
mental health areas. We also provide a bookstall with self-help
literature for conferences and other large professional gatherings.
